Christmas - the Lockleaze way

Lockleaze showed that it knows how to “do” Christmas once again this year by a staging a lantern parade before the Christmas tree lights were switched on.

A couple of very well attended lantern making events were held at Buzz Lockleaze and The Hub where people were encouraged to design and make their own lanterns in readiness for the forthcoming Christmas events.

On the evening a lantern parade was held around Gainsborough Square, with the lanterns illuminated by small led electric lights placed inside. At the end of the parade everyone congregated in the middle of the Square for the turning on the Christmas tree lights.

The tree was purchased with the money that was raised last year. It may look small at the moment but it has been planted and will be staying and will grow. This tree represents what the people of Lockleaze can do when they work together as a community and is a superb legacy to share with future generations. Thank you to fantastic people who helped decorate the tree - Chris, Alex, Beckie, Stacey and Rachel.

After the lights were switched on everyone was treated to a series of festive songs around the tree led by Lockleaze’s new singing group.

With any community event there is always a list of people to thank:  Jody, Val, Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust, Sue, John, Emma, the Lockleaze singing group.
