Litter pickers delighted with £300 donation

The Friends of Stoke Park were absolutely delighted to have received an anonymous donation of £300 specifically for their litter pickers.

The Friends of Stoke Park were absolutely delighted to have received an anonymous donation of £300 specifically for their litter pickers.

Ruth Revell says, “the group are so grateful for the donation and we will get the greatest pleasure putting it back into the park to use for positive things”.

Exactly how it will be spent will be determined at their next meeting but purchasing a large flask for the litter pickers and helping to fund some spring and summer events are likely.

Meanwhile in the Buzz cafe Maria has very kindly installed a chalkboard specifically for Friends of Stoke Park events. Their next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 13th March at 6pm in the Buzz cafe.

A friendship walk in the park has been held in memory of local volunteer Stuart Lilley who passed away at Christmas. Led by Sheila, Saliha and Ken it proved to be a great success. A permanent memorial to Stuart was discussed and a decision to set up a crowd-funding page in an effort to try and raise enough funds to enable a bench in Stuart’s memory to be constructed.
