Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust operate out of The Hub in Gainsborough Square, and run both The Hub and the Cameron Centre. They are a charity run by residents, volunteers and professionals to work for the benefit of Lockleaze residents. This is their 20th year of operation and their work is just as relevant today as it was when they were established, supporting community activities such as toddler groups, indoor bowling, bingo, art, craft and exercise groups, as well as engaging with the community on important events and making sure Lockleaze residents have their voices heard.

Their mission is to bring people, information and organisations together and support residents to develop and deliver projects that create local opportunities and community spirit.

At their AGM they presented their achievements to the local community. Their Chair Sarah Mowl says, “This was my first AGM as Chair of LNT and what a year it has been!  Not only have we enjoyed the successes of, amongst others, the Love Lockleaze Festival, increased use of The Hub for such a diverse range of groups, worked with other organisations in and around Lockleaze on some fantastic projects we also found a dynamic new CEO.

“Suzanne and her team at LNT have brought  passion, enthusiasm and energy & the launch of the Lockleaze Survey was just one of the new initiatives they took on. This survey has been completed by over 600 residents the findings of which will help us in our future funding bids.  Increasingly funders are looking for evidence when we apply for grants and this survey will help enormously in ensuring that we can present the best case so that we can continue to fund existing projects and help us develop in new areas, as demanded by the residents of Lockleaze.

“The future looks increasingly challenging with the demise of Neighbourhood Partnerships, cost cutting across the city and demands on funding being more and more competitive to name a few.  We are ALL going to have to work together; staff, trustees, other organisations and volunteers.  We must not stop.  Lockleaze is a great place to live and work and we want to continue to ensure that we find as many ways as we can to ensure that it becomes even better for even more people”.

Jayne Whittlestone of United Communities adds, “It was so brilliant to be part of the LNT AGM this year. The organisation is going from strength to strength and representing the interest and activities of Lockleaze. I am a trustee of LNT as well as working in the community and I see their work as so valuable for the area. Really looking to understanding the issues from community survey and how we can all work together for the future of the area”.
