Maskeleyne Avenue Park Project – What Next?

Ardagh Community Trust, Manor Farm Community Hub and residents from across Manor Farm Estate have been collaborating with UWE Architecture students to explore how the park in Maskeleyne Avenue might be enhanced to support increased community use following removal of the MUGA from the space in March 2017 following ongoing issues of anti-social behaviour.

Since Autumn 2017, MA Architecture Students have met with residents, undertaken a range of community surveys and engagement activities and attended an open evening at Horfield C of E school to ensure that their work has been informed by as wide a range of residents as possible. People from a wide range of ages and with a wide range of interests have inputted their views, including those vehemently opposed to removal of the MUGA from the park, and hyper-local residents whose day-to-day lives prior to it’s removal were being blighted by the anti-social behaviour that developed around it.

The students will be coming to present their project to local residents in March and the groups working on the project hope to use the work that has now been completed to attract further funding to support a range of activities in the park which can respond to the feedback residents have contributed to the project.

Activities are likely to be in the form of a series of ‘pop-up’ one-day events in the park while longer-term planning and a potential ‘transformation’ plan are further developed and agreed. All residents in Manor Farm are invited to come and find out more & to have their say about the ideas being developed in response to the project – including a relationship between the park and the new community hub which MFCH have been working hard to achieve over the last 4 years. A number of ideas that the students have developed could potentially impact significantly & all involved are keen to hear from residents to ensure that the plans being developed take account of as many people’s views and experiences as possible. The date & time of the presentation are still being confirmed as H&L Voice is going to press - please contact info@theardagh.com to be added to the project mailing list &/or join Manor Farm Community Hub’s Facebook group to be first to hear confirmed details about the event as soon as it is available. ALL WELCOME!
