Wonderful Val takes care of us all

Val Knight, the Caretaker at Stoke Park Schools, has been awarded Caretaker of the Year at the Caretakers annual conference. Val managed to beat competition from Caretakers across the country and was presented with a shield and a prize.

School Caretakers battled it out for the prestigious Caretaker and Site Manager of the Year awards which were presented at the national Schools Site Conference. Sponsored by the highly successful Cleaning Supplier One Stop Cleaning Shop and organised by Taking care of your Caretaker the Conference is one of only two in the country dedicated to School Caretakers and Site managers and recognises the fundamental role they play in the smooth running of schools. Taking care of your Caretaker is an organisation dedicated to developing and supporting caretaking staff in schools.

“She is amazing, resourceful, hardworking and always willing to lend a hand", said a nursery class teacher.

Val has made a mud kitchen, made wonderful costumes for school plays and attends extra curricula activities and shows immense enthusiasm to learn new skills to save the school money. The school has improved since she became caretaker" said a parent..."She makes it a great place for our children" said another parent.

Val herself added that “she was very surprised and honoured to receive the award”.
