A busy summer at The Vench
So much is going on this summer at Lockleaze’s own adventure playground, The Vench!
They will be celebrating the summer with a big community party on August 14th , from 3-6pm. Join them to be among the first to use the new wood-fired pizza oven, make your own pedal- powered smoothie, do some minibeast hunting, and much more. There will also be a photographic exhibition of the history of The Vench from its first opening in 1972 to today, and a chance for you to share your own memories of The Vench!
The summer party will also be celebrating two new launches – a brand new website, where you can find information on all the goings-on at The Vench, and new outdoor birthday party packages! They will be offering birthday parties for ages 4 and up, with lots of different themes and activity options for a truly unique and bespoke birthday experience. Booking and special introductory offers will be available through the new website.
They are also running lunch clubs throughout the summer holidays, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. As well as a hot two-course lunch there are activities such as campfire cooking, Nerf gun adventures and crafts, and free play each Wednesday. You can book your free space by phoning the office on 01179 103930.
The playground is open every Thursday and Friday in the holidays from 11-4, for play sessions for 8-13 year olds (under 8’s must be accompanied by a parent/carer).
You can also bring your bikes to the Life Cycle workshop from 12-4 on Thursdays, for repairs and special bike events like learn to cycle and bike games.
The Vench is also open on Wednesday evenings from 5-7 for youth group, for ages 11-17. Come and take part in fun games, sports and activities!
Charley Murrell of Groundwork South, the charity that manages The Vench, says, “We’ve got such a busy summer coming up, with lots on offer, and we’d really love to see plenty of people from the community come and join in.”
