All the latest from our local Police team - September 2019

Littering and fly-tipping is a hot topic and also a subject that I am quite passionate about as there is no excuse, simple as that, no excuse. There are enough bins around and facilities to tip and re-cycle here in Bristol.

Welcome to your local neighbourhood policing team:

Lockleaze: PC Rick Woodland, PCSO Charlotte Thompson & PC Sam Hewitt

Horfield: PC Jo Archer, PCSO Tristan Fussell & PC Gethin Jones

It has a negative impact on our streets and costs tax-payers and the council thousands of pounds each year. This includes dropping litter on the street or from your vehicle - this includes chewing gum and cigarette butts. Graffiti: this includes painting or damaging a tree or any road signs; fly-posting & fly-tipping. These cover various fines and for further details you can visit Bristol City Council’s web-site. As I said, there is no excuse and it doesn’t matter what you say. Use it, bag-it and bin-it.

By the time you read my column, schools will be back so this is a polite reminder, please park safe and legally. If you can, walk to school. If not then please allow enough time to park and walk your child to school. Again, there is no excuse for parking illegally. I would rather your child be late than in danger and parking on any restricted yellow lines, zig-zags, pavements, carries a fixed penalty up to £100. Letting your child out whilst stopped in traffic is not a good example for other children viewing your behaviour – don’t forget children learn from our behaviours. Please set a good example. We will be out and about around our schools and there is no excuse and no warnings.

Do you have a bike? Is your bike security marked? Do you secure your bike at home in your garage? Watch this space, we will be arranging a bike marking event in October. Don’t forget to padlock your bike with a decent lock and please take a photo of your bike and note the frame number as this assist us greatly when re-uniting a bike with their owner.

Until next month PCSO Charlotte
