Comedy craze comes to Horfield and Lockleaze

Lockleaze and Horfield residents who love a laugh are spoilt for choice as not one but TWO nights have started in the area.

For guaranteed laughs, get yourself down to Lockleaze Sports Centre on Friday 1st February. In the comfy confines of the middle bar you can see some of the best professional and semi-professional acts in the South West, seamlessly tied together by ex Horfield Leisure Centre swimming teacher turned stand-up, Louise Leigh.

“I’ve gone from waving my arms about on poolside, to mucking about on stage,” says Louise. “Once you’ve coached a school group of 30 through their 25 metre badge, you can cope with anything!”

On Friday 1st Feb, Louise will be joined by hilarious headliner Gary Tro. He’s written 2 solo shows that have gone up to Edinburgh and this year has been tour support for Tez Ilyas, internationally toured his superhero themed show MARVELus and been recommended as one of Edinburgh Fringe Festival's Top 10 Comedy Shows by the British Comedy Guide. Opening the show is Richard James. He’s a deliciously funny Devonian with 'Quick wit and hilarious anecdotes' New Life Magazine. As if that wasn’t enough there will be support from the brightest new talent in Bristol.

Tickets are just £5, and are available at the bar of the Lockleaze Sports Centre.

What’s more, since August, alternate Saturday nights have seen the Inn on the Green on Gloucester Road playing host to Inn Jokes. It’s a new act/new material night, which means, you  might just see the Next Big Thing in comedy take their first shaky steps on stage - or catch top local talent trying out new jokes. Either way, if you’re on a budget and have a taste for adventure, it’s a brilliant night out. Free entry, pay what you like as you leave. It’s on the second and fourth Saturday nights of the month.
