Exciting opportunity to get involved and make a difference in an amazing community project!

The Old Library Eastville is the main area of activity of South Lockleaze and Purdown neighbourhood group.

This group is a registered community interest company (CIC) with currently three Directors.

The CIC took over running of the building formally known as Eastville Library in 2016 and run it as a community space, for hire, as a community cafe, and put on events for the local community. We have a formal lease of the Old Library building from Bristol City Council. The project has been a tremendous success, and as the group evolves and matures we have taken the decision to expand the board of directors. The current board consists of the three founding directors.

Our motivation for increasing this to seven is to provide greater support and stronger direction for the group as it matures and evolves. We want to recruit a diverse board with experience and energy which will help carry the group forward in the next stage of its evolution.

There are exciting plans in place for a children’s play area ( funding secured ) and some redevelopment of the building to provide essential accessible toilet facilities. This group now provides vital support to the  local community.

The current directors are inviting expressions of interest from people who would be interested in becoming directors of this group. There will be a formal recruitment process there is no remuneration attached to this role.

Please e mail davidwalwin@hotmail.co.uk in the first instance with expressions of interest in this role. There is no specific requirement to be a local  resident to fulfill this role.
