Formal consultation launched on new school

As announced in last month’s Horfield and Lockleaze Voice the Cathedral Schools Trust are delighted to announce the launch of the formal consultation on CST Trinity Academy, which commenced on Tuesday 17th April 2018.

CST Trinity Academy will be a state funded secondary school and their vision is to offer a broad and balanced curriculum with a focus on preparation for working life as well as music and the performing arts. The proposed site for the new secondary school is on land adjoining Stoke Park Primary School on Romney Avenue, Bristol BS7 9SX and the new school will meet the increasing demand for secondary school places in the north of the city. The school will open for Year 7 places in September 2019, growing year on year with an eventual capacity of 1220 students including sixth-form provision.

As part of the process of opening a new school, they are carrying out a formal consultation exercise (under Section 10 of the Academies Act 2010) to determine whether Cathedral Schools Trust should enter into a Funding Agreement with the Department for Education, pending approval from the Secretary of State. An example of a model funding agreement can be viewed at:

This consultation enables local residents, staff and governors from local schools, parents, students, councillors, community groups and any other interested parties to share their views. Please note this consultation is not related to any building or planning applications surrounding the new school and a further consultation on the building and site layout will take place ahead of the planning application process.

This is an important step in their journey to opening in September 2019 and they are looking forward to listening to the views of local residents in order to provide the area with the best school possible.

The closing date for this consultation is Friday 15th June 2018 and to complete the questionnaire online, please visit their website at They would also be pleased to welcome you at one of our public events on the following dates:
