Horfield Leisure Centre has had a £1.5 million refurbishment of its facilities.

The Centre, which is managed by Everyone Active, now offers a newly refurbished gym, a sports hall, two swimming pools, two squash courts, a group exercise and a group cycling studio as well as a café and a crèche.

The gym is equipped with the very latest in Technogym fitness equipment whilst the group exercise programme features over 150 classes a week including Body Pump, Group Cycling, Kettle Bells and a series of virtual classes.

The new facilities were opened by Bristol North West MP Charlotte Leslie and Lord Mayor of Bristol Jeff Lovell who were given a tour of the Centre.

Olympic athlete and silver medallist Colin Jackson carried out a Q&A session with children from Westbury Park Junior School. Colin added, “I was really impressed with Horfield Leisure Centre and it was great to see so many people making the most of the fantastic facilities here. Its essential that people of all ages are encouraged to be active, and centres like this offer something for everyone.  The children I met were really enthusiastic about sport and activity, and having Horfield on their doorstep will help to ensure they can carry this enthusiasm into the future”.

Rhys Denley Jones, General Manager at Everyone Active said, “We are very proud and excited to have opened the new facilities at Horfield Leisure Centre. We have invested more than £1.5 million to make the site one of the leading venues for fitness and activity in the region. Everyone had a great time at the opening event, which gave us the chance to showcase the improvements made at Horfield. Getting the seal of approval from Colin Jackson proves what a fantastic centre this is, and we are delighted that local people are benefitting from the new facilities”.
