Vench seeks volunteers to help play sessions

GROUNDWORK is calling for volunteers who want to help The Vench stay open, support our much needed play sessions or who are looking to gain experience within a charity.

Support on any of the following is required – youth work, outdoor maintenance, marketing, community engagement, running and supporting community events and projects, as well as general admin.

All roles will be based at The Vench in Romney Avenue in Lockleaze and full training will be provided. There is no need for volunteers to be experienced in all areas. Volunteers can help in the office any time which suits them from 8.30am-4.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Groundwork South is an environmental charity which works with communities across the South of England, creating effective and lasting solutions to improve people’s prospects and to promote greener living and working.

Playworkers are in need to assist the running of group activities at the site’s adventure playground for children between the ages of 8 and 13. The sessions will be run by Learning Partnerships West, a charity which transforms young lives, and provides places for young people to have fun, be active and play. Playwork volunteers will be required to complete a six-hour training course on Playwork funded by Groundwork South.

The sessions will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3pm – 7pm and on Fridays from 3pm – 6.30pm during term time. Hours will vary during the school holidays. Both posts require a full DBS check which would be funded by Groundwork South, as well as references.
